Outdoor Binfire Charity Event

This annual charity event culminates in a huge bonfire and spectacular firework display to raise money for the 'Mind' charity, an organisation which helps people with their mental heath and wellbeing. This would be the first year a DJ would be present. That DJ would be none other than Supafly Roadshow. The location was Coventry rugby club. In total there were about three and a half thousand people present with all ticket sales being donated to the charity. There were approximately 15 vendors on hand ranging from brownies and jerk chicken to kids games and a mobile mental health clinic where you could go and talk to a member of the Mind charity. People from the army and fire service were present along with the Mayor and members of the Coventrians Rugby Club.

Due to the size of the event we opted for the dnb setup, 10 large speakers set up in the back of a truck facing outwards towards the rugby pitch with our sound engineer onboard. We were set up adjacent in a purpose-built marquee with our decks, mics, lighting and smoke machines. Boy let me tell you it was loud and we didn't even turn it up to half. Music wise it was important to be diverse, this was no issue as we cover many genres spanning several decades. Also we had to keep it clean so no explicit lyrics were permitted.

Prior to the event we obtained a list of all the people involved and what their role was on the day. Throughout the event we would make announcements informing the crowd of things such as the names of the individual vendors and what they do or sell. Information about the charity and the organisers, the rugby club and the army, fire service etc.

The bonfire was humongous and the firework display was very impressive, it seemed to go on for ages. Someone asked us to give a shout out for someone's birthday to which we duly obliged but then at least another 20 requests followed lol. But we're always happy to do this and love engaging with the crowd. The feedback we received was very complimentary indeed. Overall, a great event for a great cause. Mental health should never be overlooked, there are many services out there to be accessed. One of those is www.mind.org.uk
